The Slovene Study Library (Slovenska studijska knjiznica) in Klagenfurt / Celovec (Carinthia, Austria) is the biggest Austrian library with materials in the Slovene language. It was founded by the Association of Slovene cultural societies in Carinthia (Slovenska prosvetna zveza) in 1927, destroyed by the Nazi regime and re-opened in 1947. 1973-2006 the library was entitled to a deposit copy of all prints from Slovenia, since 2006 only to a deposit copy of prints, issued with public means. It owns 130.000 books, non-book materials, and over 500 titles of periodicals, mostly in Slovene, but also in German and English. The materials include an extensive collection for juvenile users and a collection on the Slovene ethnic minority in Carinthia. An annual bibliography on Carinthian Slovenes is published in “Koroški koledar” and monthly on-line. Since 1997 the library is connected to COBISS, the cooperative library network of Slovenia.
